I’m Monika, a wedding photographer in Alicante

I’m Monika and I photograph weddings and elopements in Alicante, along the Costa Blanca and across Spain. Alicante has a very different feel from the big cities – the old streets of Barrio de Santa Cruz, palm trees along the Explanada de España promenade, the city beach Playa del Postiguet beneath Santa Bárbara Castle, the marina, and the white coastline stretching towards Altea and Jávea.

In the morning the city feels calm, with the first open cafés and a quiet beach; during the day it’s full of light and life; and in the evening it turns into a soft golden hour by the sea – that’s often when we create the photos you’ll keep coming back to for years.

Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Alicante

Alicante wedding photographer Monika

On your wedding day I’m with you in moments that most people never see – the morning chaos in the apartment, the silence just before the ceremony, that first deep breath after you say “yes”, little jokes over dinner and the tired laughter late at night. I see how your emotions shift throughout the day, how your closest people move around you, and how the light and atmosphere change.

To be able to capture all of this, I need you to feel safe and calm with me. I won’t try to turn you into someone else or push you into stiff, perfect poses. Instead, I create a space where you know what’s going to happen next and can focus on each other – not on the camera.

  • My work is rooted in a documentary style – I watch what’s happening instead of trying to artificially create moments.

  • During the key parts of the day (ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance) I step in only minimally – these moments belong to you, not to the camera.

  • For couple portraits I give you simple, clear prompts, but what matters most to me is your connection and relationship, not a perfectly polished pose.

  • We adapt the photo schedule to your day – I don’t want you to spend an hour away from your own wedding.

  • Before the wedding we’ll go through locations, light and a rough timeline together, so you know exactly when and where we’ll be shooting.

You enjoy the day with the people you love – and I’ll make sure the story of your day and the atmosphere of Alicante and the Costa Blanca stay in your photos.

I’m a wedding photographer in Alicante

Alicante wedding photographer Monika

I photograph weddings in the city, in hotels with sea views, in gardens, on the beach and at countryside fincas further inland. I love when a single day takes you through different settings – getting ready in the historic centre in the morning, a ceremony on a rooftop terrace or in a hotel, a short couple session by the sea, and an evening celebration in a garden or a hall overlooking the city.

I want your gallery to reflect what your day really felt like – who came to celebrate with you, how you talk and laugh together, what the light, music and evening atmosphere were like. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Alicante, I’ll be happy to help you choose locations, shaping the timeline and finding the best moment for couple photos, so that the photography becomes a natural part of the day and doesn’t pull you away from what’s happening for too long.

Weddings in Alicante – city, beach and the Costa Blanca

Alicante brings together the old town, the port and the city beach in one place. In the historic Barrio de Santa Cruz you’ll find narrow streets, colourful houses and sea views – perfect for a short walk and a couple session away from the busiest areas. Below Castillo de Santa Bárbara you get panoramic views over the city and coastline.

Along the sea runs the palm-lined Explanada de España, and just a few steps away is Playa del Postiguet – ideal for a quick barefoot shoot in the sand after the ceremony or at sunset.

For a city wedding, it often makes sense to choose a hotel in the centre where the ceremony, dinner and evening party can all happen in one place – for example
Hospes Amérigo, a five-star hotel with event spaces and a rooftop terrace with views of the port and the castle.

Beyond Alicante – countryside fincas, vineyards and the Costa Blanca coast

The surroundings of Alicante offer countryside fincas, vineyards and beautiful stretches of the Costa Blanca. Just a short drive out of the city and the landscape changes – vines, olive trees and views towards Altea or the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe.

For inspiration, you can look at historic villas and fincas in the area, such as Finca Marqués de Montemolar near Altea, Casa Santonja or Jardines de Abril – venues with gardens and indoor spaces for your ceremony, cocktail hour and evening party.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“We asked Mona to photograph our wedding and we don’t regret it for a second. The photos beautifully capture not only the important moments, but especially the subtle, spontaneous ones that really created the atmosphere. Monika’s approach was wonderful – kind, natural, everything felt relaxed and at the same time very professional. Communication was great from the very beginning all the way to the delivery of the photos. We felt very comfortable with her, which was really important for us in front of the camera as people with no experience.

We would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking not only for beautiful, natural photos, but also for a calm and genuinely human approach.
Thank you!”

I’m Monika – a wedding photographer in Alicante, on the Costa Blanca and across Spain

Alicante wedding photographer Monika

I’m Monika, and if you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Alicante, anywhere along the Costa Blanca or elsewhere in Spain, I’d love to be part of your day. I mostly work with couples who want their photos to feel close, calm and full of the atmosphere of the place – the sea, the light, the wind, the evening buzz of the city.

On a wedding day I usually stay more in the background. I notice the small situations, gestures, glances, spontaneous laughter and the quiet pauses when you take a moment away from your guests. When it’s needed, though, I’m clear and practical – I’ll help with group photos, suggest where to stand for the best light or recommend a short break just for the two of you.

I edit my photos in a clean, timeless way – without heavy effects that will look dated in a few years. I keep the colours close to reality, so your gallery reminds you of what the day truly felt like. Before the wedding we’ll go through your timeline, priorities and possible locations – whether you’re planning a wedding in the centre of Alicante, by the sea or at a countryside finca further inland.

If you’re still looking for an Alicante & Costa Blanca wedding photographer, feel free to get in touch and check your date.

How I photograph weddings in Alicante

Bride and groom cuddling in a quiet stone alley during their Alicante old town wedding

Alicante and the Costa Blanca offer many different backdrops in a single day – the city, the harbour, the beach and quieter spots just outside town. I usually combine a documentary approach with a shorter couple session at the time when the light feels the most beautiful.

This is what your day might look like from my perspective:

  • Getting ready – I calmly photograph details, outfits, the atmosphere in the room and moments with your closest people.

  • Ceremony – I capture arrivals, vows, the exchange of rings, your emotions, your guests’ reactions, congratulations and all the small gestures around.

  • Group photos – I help with the list of groups and the organisation so that the photos are efficient and nobody has to wait too long.

  • Couple session – we plan it around the light and your timeline; it can take place in the old town, on the promenade, by the sea or in the venue’s garden.

  • Evening celebration – I photograph the dancing, speeches, little interactions between guests and the feel of the lights and music, so the whole evening comes through in the photos, not just a few “obligatory” shots.

When I select and edit your photos, I aim for the whole gallery to feel like one continuous story – from opening the windows in your apartment in the morning to the very last song on the dance floor.

How the process works

Many couples plan their wedding in Alicante from afar, so I strive to make the entire process as simple and straightforward as possible.

1. First message
Send me your wedding date, ceremony and reception location (Alicante / surroundings / Costa Blanca), an approximate guest count, and a few sentences about how you envision your day. If you’re considering a pre-wedding / engagement session or an elopement, feel free to mention it in the message.

2. Online call
We’ll schedule a short video call to discuss your wedding style, timeline, priorities, and any practical questions. We can also look at specific venues and locations you’re considering, and discuss what makes the most sense to photograph.

3. Coverage proposal and price estimate
Based on your vision, I’ll recommend how many hours of photography make sense, suggest the best time for couple portraits, and how to coordinate everything with your schedule. After that, I’ll send you a clear price estimate, so you’ll know exactly what’s included.

4. Booking your date
If our collaboration feels like a good fit, I’ll send you a contract and booking details. Once the deposit is paid, your date will be officially reserved.

5. Before the wedding
A few weeks before your wedding, we’ll finalize the timeline, addresses, important names, and a list of group photos. This is also the ideal time to mention any specific traditions or moments you want to make sure we capture.

6. Wedding day in Alicante
You focus on each other and your guests – I’ll take care of the light, timing, and flow of the photography. You won’t need to worry about technical details – I’m there to make sure nothing important is missed and that the photography doesn’t disrupt the natural flow of the day.

7. Delivery of your photos
Shortly after the wedding, I’ll send you a small preview – a few key photos as a first taste. Then, I’ll deliver the full edited gallery online, ready for sharing and printing.
