I’m Monika — a wedding photographer in Lisbon
Congratulations on your engagement! My name is Monika, and I photograph weddings and elopements in Lisbon, along the coast toward Cascais/Estoril, and just outside the city too — for example in lush, green Sintra. Lisbon is a city of light: cobbled streets in Alfama, azulejos on façades, viewpoints above the Tejo River, vintage trams, warm-toned rooftops, and sunsets that can turn an ordinary moment into a photo you’ll keep forever.
In the morning, the city feels quiet and gentle; during the day it’s lively and full of movement; and in the late afternoon everything slows down into soft, golden light. That’s often when the images are made that you’ll return to for years — effortless, personal, and filled with the atmosphere of the place.
Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Lisbon

On your wedding day, I’m with you for most of it — during the preparations, the ceremony, a short couple session, and the evening celebration. I pay attention to the moments that often slip by: the nerves right before the ceremony, the relief after “I do,” small gestures between the two of you, your family’s reactions, laughter around the table, and details you might not even notice in the moment.
What matters to me is that you feel relaxed with me — so photography doesn’t feel like “another task,” but a natural part of the day. And if the plan changes (in Lisbon that’s not unusual because of the light, moving between locations, or the river breeze), I adapt quickly and keep everything calm and simple.
- Within one week, you’ll receive a selection of 50 edited photos.
- I photograph most of the day in a documentary way — letting things unfold and capturing them as they truly happen.
- During the key moments (the ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance), I step in as little as possible so you can fully live them.
- Couple portraits aren’t about “posing” — they’re about the natural moments between the two of you.
You’ll enjoy the day with the people you love — and I’ll make sure your photos keep the emotions, the little details, and Lisbon exactly as it felt that day.

I photograph weddings in Lisbon

Lisbon is special because you can have completely different backdrops within a single day: morning preparations in a boutique hotel in Baixa or Chiado, a ceremony in a garden or at one of the city’s “quintas,” a short portrait session with views over the Tejo River, and an evening celebration under string lights on a terrace or in a courtyard patio.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Lisbon, I’m happy to help in a practical way too: we’ll choose locations that fit your day, set the timing for couple photos so it doesn’t interrupt the flow, and go over simple ways to avoid the biggest crowds (often it’s just about picking the right hour — and walking a few streets in the right direction).
Wedding venues in Lisbon
For portraits in Lisbon, we can use the streets of Alfama and the area around Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral), viewpoints (miradouros) above the city, the riverside by Praça do Comércio, or the light and open spaces in Belém — depending on what feels closest to your style and how your timeline looks.
Lisbon region — quintas, palaces, and the Atlantic coast
Just a short drive outside the city, the atmosphere changes completely: historic estates and gardens, the green hills around Sintra, and venues where you can keep the whole day (or even the whole weekend) in one place without unnecessary transfers.
For inspiration, you can look at places like
Quinta da Pimenteira,
Quinta do Torneiro,
Penha Longa Resort
or
Valverde Palácio de Seteais
— venues that work beautifully for a ceremony, reception, and party all in one location.
If you’re dreaming of the ocean, the coastline around Cascais and Estoril offers everything from elegant historic spaces to a relaxed “by-the-sea” vibe. Take a look at
Forte da Cruz,
Arriba by the Sea,
Palácio Estoril
or a city option with river views at
SUD Lisboa Wedding Club.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We could not have chosen a better photographer for our wedding! Monika is very professional and will make sure every important moment is captured in a very candid, not forced and non-invasive way. She went with the flow of our (sometimes chaotic) wedding and effortlessly adjusted to our needs/timing as was needed.
On a personal level, she is very sweet and curious, shows interest in you as a couple and your story, as well as your guests and the traditions you choose to include.
Since the beginning, we got a good impression of her and her work from her fast responses to our emails, through the cosy pre-wedding meeting, her dedication at the wedding and now to when we got the final pictures, she exceeded our expectations. 🙂 We strongly recommend her and would choose her again in a heartbeat. <3 Thank you again, Adela and Peter”

I’m Monika — a wedding photographer in Lisbon and anywhere in Portugal

If you’re planning a wedding or an elopement in Lisbon (or anywhere in Portugal), I’d love to be part of your day. Most often, I photograph couples who want their images to feel natural and truly reflect the atmosphere of the place — so that when you look through your gallery, the emotions and the small moments that made the day yours come right back.
Most of the time, I stay unobtrusive and let things unfold. When it’s needed, I’m clear and practical: I can help organize group photos, suggest the best spot for flattering light, and plan a short window for couple portraits so it doesn’t take time away from your guests.
I edit in a clean, timeless way, without heavy filters. I keep colors close to real life, so the gallery still feels beautiful years from now. Before the wedding, we’ll go through your timeline, priorities, and locations — whether you’re dreaming of Lisbon’s streets, the ocean near Cascais, or gardens in Sintra. I want you to feel that the photography is taken care of, so you can focus on your day.
How I photograph weddings in Lisbon

Lisbon can give you city streets, viewpoints, the river, greenery — and, if you want, the ocean — all within one day. I usually combine a documentary approach with a short couple session in the most beautiful light (early morning or late afternoon).
This is how the day typically looks from my perspective:
Getting ready — quiet moments, details, atmosphere, and the people closest to you.
Ceremony — smooth and unobtrusive, including guests’ reactions and congratulations.
Group photos — quick and well-guided, so no one is waiting around for long.
Couple portraits — short and intentional, shaped by the light (streets, gardens, viewpoints, the sea).
Evening celebration — images that feel like the party: energy, lights, music — not just “must-have” shots.
When I select and edit your photos, I build the gallery as one complete story — from the morning nerves to the very last song.
How the process works

I want everything to feel simple, calm, and clear — whether you’re planning from somewhere else in Europe or right here in Lisbon.
