Porto wedding photographer
I’m Monika — a wedding photographer in Porto
Congratulations on your engagement! My name is Monika, and I photograph weddings and elopements in Porto and by the ocean. Porto is a city that doesn’t try to be perfect — and that’s exactly where its beauty lies. Stone houses above the Douro, narrow streets with laundry in the windows, cobblestones under your feet, trams, bridges, and light reflecting off façades and the river. And when you add the Atlantic breeze, you get backdrops that feel alive and cinematic — yet still completely real.
In the morning, the city is quiet and raw in the best way; during the day it pulses with energy; and by evening everything softens into warm light. I love photographing Porto in a way that keeps both the city’s character and that feeling that you were truly there — not just in a beautiful place, but in an atmosphere that fits you.
Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Porto

On your wedding day, I’m with you from start to finish — making sure the photos capture what truly matters. Not only the “big” moments, but the small ones too: the looks, the touches, laughter at the table, the nerves right before the ceremony, or the quiet relief after your vows. These details often become the heart of the whole story.
I want you to feel comfortable with me — so the camera never feels like a distraction, but something that naturally blends into your day. And when Porto shows its real character (ocean wind, changeable skies, fast shifts in light), I adapt quickly so it never turns into stress — just another layer of atmosphere in your photos.
- Within one week, you’ll receive a selection of 50 edited photos.
- I photograph most of the day in a documentary way — letting things unfold and capturing them as they truly happen.
- During the key moments (the ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance), I step in as little as possible so the experience stays truly yours.
- Couple portraits aren’t about “posing” — they’re about the natural moments between the two of you.
You’ll enjoy the day with the people you love — and I’ll make sure your photos hold onto the emotions, the little details, and Porto exactly as it felt that day.

I photograph weddings in Porto

Porto is perfect if you want to change the scenery within one day — city elegance, authentic streets, and then the ocean. Getting ready can happen in a boutique hotel or an apartment in the city, the ceremony can be in a garden, courtyard, or a stylish interior, and your portraits can feel less like a “shoot” and more like a natural walk.
And then comes the best part: an ocean finale. Foz do Douro, seaside promenades, light on the sand, wind in your hair, the sound of waves — a completely different energy than the city centre. It works beautifully in photos: the city gives you structure and atmosphere, while the ocean adds freedom and emotion.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Porto, I’ll help make it practical and stress-free: the city can be busy, but Porto has many spots where you only need to step a few streets aside to find calm. And ocean locations work best when the light is soft and the beaches aren’t crowded.
Svatební místa v Portu
For portraits in Porto, we can use the riverside streets of Ribeira, the area around São Bento Station (for its iconic azulejos), the viewpoints and bridges over the Douro (including the Dom Luís I Bridge), the historic lanes of Miragaia, or the oceanfront promenade in Foz do Douro — depending on what feels closest to your style and how your timeline looks.
Porto region — river views, historic venues, and the Atlantic coast
Just a short drive (or even a quick hop across the river) and the atmosphere shifts: elegant hotels with panoramic views over Porto, riverside palaces and gardens, and venues where you can keep the ceremony, reception, and party in one place without unnecessary transfers.
For inspiration, you can look at places like
The Yeatman,
Pestana Palácio do Freixo,
InterContinental Porto – Palácio das Cardosas
or
Casa Ferreirinha
— venues that work beautifully for a ceremony, reception, and celebration with a strong “city + river” feel.
If you’d love an ocean vibe, Porto’s coastline delivers it fast — especially around Foz do Douro and Matosinhos, where you get open horizons, sea air, and a completely different energy than the city centre. Take a look at
Vila Foz Hotel & Spa
for a refined beachfront atmosphere, or
Casa da Granja
if you’re after a more private, near-the-beach setting that can work well for intimate celebrations.
And if you’re dreaming of vineyards and a weekend-style celebration, the Douro Valley is an easy “upgrade” from Porto — with wine estates made for slow days and golden light, like
Quinta da Pacheca.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I can honestly say that choosing our wedding photographer was probably the biggest challenge for us. After several weeks of searching, we came across Monika’s profile and immediately knew her work was exactly what we had been looking for. A big plus for us was the pre-wedding shoot, where we met Monika for the first time. Any initial nerves disappear right away thanks to her guidance and cheerful approach — and they definitely won’t come back on the big day.
On the wedding day, Monika blends into the crowd and simply works her magic. She captures the atmosphere of each moment perfectly, along with all the emotions you want to remember and keep from your wedding day — preserved in photographs.
Thank you so much again for everything.”

I’m Monika — a wedding photographer in Porto and anywhere in Portugal

If you’re planning a wedding or an elopement in Porto (or anywhere in Portugal), I’d love to be part of your day. Most often, I work with couples who want natural photos without over-posing — so when you look through your gallery, the emotions, the atmosphere of the place, and the little moments that made the day yours come back instantly.
Most of the time, I stay unobtrusive and let things unfold. When it’s needed, I’m clear and practical: I’ll help organize group photos and guide you so even a short couple session feels relaxed and stress-free.
I edit in a clean, timeless way, without heavy filters. I keep colors close to real life, so your photos still feel beautiful years from now.
How I photograph weddings in Porto

Porto can give you the city, the river, viewpoints, parks — and, if you want, the ocean — all within one day. I usually combine a documentary approach with a short couple session in the most beautiful light.
This is how the day typically looks from my perspective:
Getting ready — quiet moments, atmosphere, details, and the people around you.
Ceremony — smooth and sensitive coverage, including guests’ reactions and congratulations.
Group photos — quick and well-guided, without unnecessary waiting.
Couple portraits — short and natural, shaped by the setting and the light (streets, viewpoints, river, sea).
Evening celebration — energy, lights, music, emotion — not just “must-have” shots.
I curate and edit your gallery as one complete story — so it flows naturally from the first moments to the last dance.
How the process works

I want everything to feel simple and calm — no unnecessary steps, no stress, and no feeling that you have to “manage the photographer.” From the first message to the final gallery, I keep communication clear and practical, so you know exactly what to expect.
First message
Send me your date, where the ceremony and reception will take place (Porto / nearby), an approximate guest count, and a short description of the kind of day you’re planning (intimate wedding, bigger celebration, elopement). If you already have a venue, feel free to share a link or a few photos — it helps me understand the atmosphere.
Short online call
We’ll have a quick call to align on your style and expectations. You’ll tell me what matters most to you (emotion, party energy, family, details, city/ocean vibe), I’ll answer your questions, and I’ll explain how I work throughout the day so you feel relaxed and prepared. It’s short, but it makes a big difference.
Proposal
Based on your plans, I’ll recommend the right amount of coverage (how many hours make sense) so your gallery includes everything important — without it feeling like someone is constantly taking photos. You’ll receive a clear proposal with pricing, what’s included, and how delivery works.
Booking your date
Once you’re ready, I’ll send a contract and details for the booking retainer. After the retainer is paid, your date is officially secured.
Your wedding day
On the day, everything is natural and easy. Most of the time I’m unobtrusive, documenting what’s really happening. When needed, I’ll help with practical organization (for example, group photos), but otherwise I give you space to enjoy your day. I focus on real moments, emotion, and atmosphere — so your photos feel like Porto and like you.
50 photos within one week
Within one week, you’ll receive a selection of 50 edited photos as a quick preview. It’s perfect if you want something to share with family, send to guests, or simply relive the emotions while they’re still fresh.
Full gallery
After that, I deliver the complete gallery online — beautifully organized, in high resolution, easy to view and share. I curate and edit it as one cohesive story, keeping the style clean, natural, and timeless.
