Las Palmas de Gran Canaria wedding photographer
I’m Monika, a wedding photographer in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
I’m Monika and I photograph weddings and elopements in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, all across the island of Gran Canaria and throughout the rest of Spain. Las Palmas has a unique atmosphere – the old quarter of Vegueta with its colonial architecture, the Triana district full of cafés and shops, the endless city beach of Las Canteras with its oceanfront promenade, and the harbour where you can watch both the boats and the sunsets.
The island enjoys pleasant weather all year round, so soft morning light, long afternoons and golden hour by the sea are perfect for wedding photos – whether you’re planning an intimate elopement for two or a bigger celebration with family and friends.
Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Las Palmas

On a wedding day I’m often there for the moments no one else is – the morning chaos in the apartment, the quiet focus before the ceremony, that first deep breath after you say “I do”, the little jokes over dinner and the very last dance when your feet are tired and there’s salty ocean air in your hair. I see how your mood shifts throughout the day, how the people who matter most move in and out around you, and all the subtle moments that make your day uniquely yours.
To be able to capture all of this, I need you to feel you can be completely yourselves with me. I don’t try to turn you into someone else or push you into a role. Instead, I create a calm space where you feel safe, know what’s going to happen next, and can focus on each other – not on the camera.
My approach is rooted in a documentary style – I watch what’s happening around you and let the day unfold, instead of trying to “direct” it.
During the important parts of the day (ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance) I only step in when it’s really necessary – those moments belong to you, not to me or the camera.
For couple portraits I’ll give you simple, easy-to-follow prompts, but the goal is your emotions and connection, not a perfect magazine pose.
We build the photography plan so that it fits naturally into your day – we’d rather plan a smart, short window for photos than take you away from your guests for too long.
Before the wedding we’ll go through the locations, light and a rough time frame together, so you know exactly when and where we’ll be shooting.
You enjoy your day with your family and friends – by the ocean, in the city or at a finca in the hills. I’m there to make sure there’s a story left from it all, filled with your connection, your people and the atmosphere of Las Palmas and the whole of Gran Canaria.

I’m a wedding photographer in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

I photograph weddings in the city, in hotels with ocean views, in garden venues and at countryside fincas around Las Palmas. I love when a single day takes you through different settings – getting ready in the historic centre in the morning, a ceremony in a garden or on a terrace with a view, a couple session by the ocean at sunset and an evening party under the open sky.
I’m not chasing “perfect” Instagram poses, but how your day truly feels: who came to be with you, how you talk and laugh together, how you enjoy the music and the light. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Las Palmas or anywhere on Gran Canaria, I’ll be happy to walk you through location options, suggest the best time for your couple photos and help you create a timeline where the photography naturally fits into the flow of your day.
Wedding venues in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Las Palmas combines a historic old town and an urban beach – you can start the day with photos in the cobbled streets of Vegueta, have your ceremony in a hotel or garden in the afternoon, and finish with a short couple session at Las Canteras beach, along the promenade full of cafés and restaurants.
For portraits, a mix of locations often works beautifully:
– the old town of Vegueta and Triana with their colonial houses and balconies,
– the promenade and sand along Las Canteras,
– or a hotel terrace or rooftop bar with views over the city and the ocean.
If you choose a hotel or venue where you can have the ceremony, dinner and evening party all in one place, we can photograph most of the day right there – without long transfers or unnecessary stress.
Gran Canaria – fincas, vineyards and natural scenery
Just a short drive out of the city and you’re in a completely different landscape – countryside fincas surrounded by palm trees, vineyards and mountains, botanical gardens or rustic venues in the hills. Around Las Palmas you’ll find fincas and rural hotels such as Finca Los Pinos, Finca La Suerte Grande or Hotel Rural El Mondalón, offering gardens, indoor spaces and full facilities for weddings.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We could not have chosen a better photographer for our wedding! Monika is very professional and will make sure every important moment is captured in a very candid, not forced and non-invasive way. She went with the flow of our (sometimes chaotic) wedding and effortlessly adjusted to our needs/timing as was needed.
On a personal level, she is very sweet and curious, shows interest in you as a couple and your story, as well as your guests and the traditions you choose to include.
Since the beginning, we got a good impression of her and her work from her fast responses to our emails, through the cosy pre-wedding meeting, her dedication at the wedding and now to when we got the final pictures, she exceeded our expectations. 🙂 We strongly recommend her and would choose her again in a heartbeat. <3 Thank you again, Adela and Peter”

I’m Monika – a wedding photographer in Las Palmas and across Gran Canaria

I’m Monika, and if you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, anywhere on the island or elsewhere in Spain, I’d love to be part of your day. I mostly work with couples who want their photos to feel natural and personal, and to reflect the atmosphere of the place – the ocean, the wind, the light and the easygoing island energy.
On a wedding day I usually stay more in the background. I watch the small moments, gestures and glances, spontaneous laughter and the quiet pauses when you just sit down together for a second. When it’s needed, though, I’m very practical – I help with organising group photos, suggest where to stand for the best light, or recommend taking a short break just for the two of you.
I edit my photos in a clean, timeless way – without heavy effects that will feel dated in a few years. I keep the colours natural, so your gallery reminds you of what the day really felt like. Before the wedding we’ll go through your timeline, priorities and location options together – from the historic centre of Las Palmas and the city beach to fincas and the landscapes of Gran Canaria.
I want you to feel that the photography is fully taken care of and that I’m there as support for you – not just another task on your to-do list.
How I photograph weddings in Las Palmas

Las Palmas and the whole island offer many different backdrops in a single day – the city, the ocean, hills and quieter inland areas. I usually combine a documentary approach with a shorter couple session at the time when the light is softest.
This is what your wedding day might look like from my perspective:
Getting ready – I quietly photograph details, outfits, the atmosphere in the room and small moments with your closest people.
Ceremony – I capture arrivals, vows, exchange of rings, guests’ reactions and congratulations as they naturally unfold.
Group photos – I help you with the list of groups and the organisation so it doesn’t take longer than necessary.
Couple session – we plan it around the light and your timeline; it can take place in the streets of Vegueta, along the Las Canteras promenade, in the venue’s garden or at a viewpoint above the city.
Evening celebration – I photograph the dancing, speeches, little interactions between guests and the overall feel of the lights and music, so the evening is truly present in your photos, not just a few “mandatory” shots.
When I select and edit your photos, I aim for the whole gallery to feel like one continuous story – from the first morning nerves all the way to the very last song.
How the process works

Many couples plan their wedding on Gran Canaria from afar, so I try to make the whole process clear and free of unnecessary complications.
First message
Write to me with your wedding date, ceremony and reception location (Las Palmas / nearby / another part of Gran Canaria), an approximate number of guests and a few lines about how you imagine your day. If you’re thinking about a pre-wedding / engagement session or an elopement, please mention that in your message as well.
Online call
We’ll schedule a short video call to talk through the style of your wedding, your timeline, priorities and any practical questions. We can also look at specific venues and locations you’re considering.
Coverage proposal and quote
Based on your plans, I’ll recommend how many hours of photography make sense, when to set aside time for couple photos and how to fit everything into your schedule. Then I’ll send you a clear price quote, so you know exactly what is included.
Booking your date
If working together feels right, I’ll send over a contract and details for the booking retainer. Once the retainer is paid, your date is firmly reserved in my calendar.
Before the wedding
A few weeks before the wedding we’ll fine-tune the final timeline, addresses, important names and a list of family and group photos. This is the perfect moment to mention any specific traditions or moments you definitely want captured.
