I’m Monika, a wedding photographer in Madrid

Congratulations on your engagement. My name is Monika and I photograph weddings and elopements in Madrid and all across Europe. Madrid has a completely different energy than seaside cities – it’s much more about light and space: wide streets, stone façades, shade in the parks, and those golden afternoons and evenings when the city softens and slows down. It’s exactly in these moments that photographs are created that still carry their atmosphere even years later.

Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Madrid

Madrid wedding photographer

Your wedding photographer will be with you almost the entire day – during the getting ready, the ceremony, your couple portraits and the evening celebration – and will be really close to it all. They see your emotions from the front row: the nerves, the relief, the tears, the laughter and all the little moments between the two of you that you might not even notice yourselves.

That’s why it’s so important that they can stay calm when a lot is happening, adapt quickly, and be a quiet support for you rather than another source of stress.

  • I shoot in a documentary style – I prefer to collect real moments rather than manufacture them.
  • I let the key parts of the day unfold naturally (the ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance).
  • For your couple portraits I’ll gently guide you, but the goal is for you to feel natural, not to hit a “perfect pose”.
  • I adapt the photography to your timeline so you don’t lose precious time with your guests.
  • Before the wedding we’ll go through locations, light and timing together so everything makes sense and you can feel relaxed.

You enjoy your day – I’ll make sure your gallery is full of emotion, little details and the atmosphere of Madrid.

I’m a wedding photographer in Madrid

Madrid wedding photographer

I photograph weddings all across Europe – city weddings, garden celebrations, villas in the countryside, mountain days and intimate ceremonies with just the two of you. I’m always drawn to the combination of place, light and your connection. I don’t aim for “just pretty pictures”. I want you to feel your day in them: the people who were there, the nerves before the ceremony, the laughter over dinner, a quiet moment just for you two and the energy of the evening.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Madrid, I’ll also help with the practical side – choosing locations, suggesting the best time for a short couple session and fitting everything into your day so the photography doesn’t interrupt the flow of your celebration.

Wedding venues in Madrid

Madrid – city centre, terraces and elegant hotels

Are you planning a wedding right in the heart of Madrid and want a setting that feels both representative and comfortable for you and your guests? Hotels and historic buildings work brilliantly here – they offer refined interiors, a quiet courtyard or atrium and often a terrace as well, so you can have the ceremony, reception and photos all in one place. For inspiration, have a look at Four Seasons Hotel Madrid (wedding spaces and facilities for celebrations) or Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, which offers elegant event spaces and full wedding services.

The surroundings of Madrid – fincas, estates and greenery

Just a short drive outside Madrid, the atmosphere changes completely – instead of busy streets you’ll find gardens, long tree-lined avenues, more privacy and enough space for a full weekend wedding celebration. If you’re dreaming of a pronounced “castle” feel surrounded by nature, take a look at Castillo de Viñuelas / Soto de Viñuelas (weddings and events in the countryside near Madrid). And if you’re searching for a spacious finca with large capacity, gardens and facilities for a bigger wedding, a popular example is La Quinta de Jarama.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I can honestly say that choosing our wedding photographer was probably the hardest decision of all. After several weeks of searching we came across Monika’s profile and knew straight away that her work was exactly what we’d been looking for. For me, a huge plus was the pre-wedding shoot where we met Monika for the first time. Any initial nerves disappear immediately with her gentle guidance and cheerful attitude – and thanks to that, they don’t show up on the big day either.

On the wedding day Monika simply blends in with the guests and works her magic. She captures the beauty of each moment perfectly, along with all the emotions you want to remember from your wedding day and keep forever in your photos.

Once again, thank you so much for everything.”

I’m Monika – a wedding photographer in Madrid, across Spain and throughout Europe

Madrid wedding photographer

I’m Monika, and if you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Madrid (or anywhere in Europe), I’d love to be there with you. I usually work with couples who want their photos to feel natural, timeless and, most importantly, genuine – so that when you look at them, you can really feel your day the way it actually was, not how it would look on a storyboard.

Most of the time I stay in the background and let things unfold on their own – I capture emotions, little moments between you and your loved ones, and the atmosphere of the place around you. When it’s needed, I’m also very practical: I’ll help quickly organise family photos, suggest where to stand for good light or how to create a small “bubble of calm” even in the middle of a busy city.

I edit the photos in a clean, timeless way, with colours close to reality, so that even years from now they feel just as natural as on your wedding day. Beforehand, we’ll go through your timeline, wishes and location options – whether you’re planning a rooftop ceremony in Madrid, a wedding at a finca just outside the city or a weekend celebration somewhere else in Europe. I want you to feel that your photos are truly in good hands and that I’m there as support, not another source of stress.

How I photograph weddings in Madrid

Bride and groom kissing under colourful flower arch at a Madrid wedding

Madrid has three “worlds” that work beautifully for weddings: the city and its little streets, the parks and gardens, and then the surrounding countryside – fincas and landscapes just outside Madrid. On a wedding day I usually combine a documentary approach with a shorter couple session.

Typically, throughout the day:

  • during getting ready I photograph discreetly – details, emotions and moments with family and friends

  • I capture the ceremony as it unfolds – tears, laughter, glances and your loved ones’ reactions

  • for group photos I help with the organisation so everything goes quickly and without chaos

  • we plan the couple portraits around the light – in the city, in a park or towards the evening, when Madrid is at its softest

  • in the evening I photograph the celebration so that you can really feel the energy in the photos, not just see “obligatory poses”

In editing I keep the images clean and timeless – without heavy filters that go out of style quickly. The whole gallery is meant to feel like one coherent story, not just a random collection of pretty pictures.

How the process works

Most couples plan their Madrid wedding from afar, so I do my best to keep the whole process simple and clear.

  1. First message
Send me your date, location, approximate guest count and a short idea of what your day will look like. Feel free to add whether you’re considering a pre-wedding / engagement session.
  2. Online call
We’ll have a short video call to talk through the style of your wedding, the timeline and your priorities. We can also look at specific locations you like.
  3. Coverage recommendation & offer
I’ll suggest the ideal length of coverage, recommend the best time for couple portraits and send you a clear quote – so you know exactly what you’re getting.
  4. Booking your date
Once you’re happy with everything, I’ll send over a contract and booking details. After the retainer is paid, your date is fully reserved.
  5. Before the wedding
We’ll go over the day plan once more – addresses, contacts and any specific wishes (group photos, details, traditions).
  6. Wedding day in Madrid
You focus on each other and your guests. I take care of the light, moments and flow of the coverage so it doesn’t disturb you – and nothing important is missed.
  7. Delivery of your photos
Shortly after the wedding you’ll receive a small preview with the key moments. The full online gallery will follow afterwards.
