I’m Monika, a wedding photographer in Granada

Congratulations on your engagement. I’m Monika and I photograph weddings and elopements in Granada, throughout Andalusia and across the rest of Spain. Granada has a very special energy – the old streets around the Cathedral, the Albaicín quarter with its views of the Alhambra, the Darro river along Paseo de los Tristes, terraced gardens on the hillsides and, in the distance, the Sierra Nevada mountains.

In the morning the city feels quiet and gentle, during the day it’s full of light, music and life, and in the evening it turns into soft orange and pink tones above the Alhambra – that’s often when we create the photos you’ll keep coming back to for years.

Wedding photographer since 2017 – over 100 weddings documented.
I help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy their day.
My work is often described as natural, timeless and calm.

Why choose me as your wedding photographer in Granada

Granada wedding photographer Monika

On your wedding day I’m with you in the moments when no one else really is – lacing up your dress in a small hotel room in the morning, in the quiet just before you walk into the ceremony, at that first relieved breath after it’s over, and later in the evening when you sit down for a moment with a view of the Alhambra lit up above the city.

I notice how tension, joy, emotion and simple calm shift throughout the day – how the light changes around you, how your family and friends react, how the mood of the city transforms. To be able to capture all of this, I need you to feel safe and relaxed around me. I’m not there to turn you into someone else or push you into roles or poses that don’t feel like you. My job is to hold a calm, clear space where you know what’s happening and can simply be yourselves.

  • I photograph mainly in a documentary way – I follow what’s happening instead of staging the day.

  • During the key moments (ceremony, vows, speeches, first dance) I step in only when it’s really necessary – these moments belong to you first of all.

  • For the couple session I’ll give you simple, easy-to-follow prompts, but I care much more about your connection, gestures and how you feel together than about a “perfect” pose.

  • We plan the photo time around your timeline – the goal is for you to spend as much time as possible with your guests, not disappear from your own wedding for an hour.

  • Before the wedding we’ll go through the locations, light and a rough schedule together, so nothing on the day takes you by surprise.

You enjoy the day with the people you love – I make sure your photos hold the story of your day and the atmosphere of Granada.

I’m a wedding photographer in Granada

Granada wedding photographer Monika

I photograph weddings in the city itself, in boutique hotels, in gardens with views of the Alhambra, at countryside cortijos on the edge of Granada and at smaller mountain weddings. I love days where the setting changes naturally – getting ready in the historic centre, a ceremony in a garden or a room with windows opening onto greenery, a short couple session at a viewpoint above the city, and an evening party under string lights.

My goal isn’t to collect a few “postcard shots” of the Alhambra, but to capture what your day really felt like: who came to celebrate with you, how you talk and laugh together, what the music, light and evening energy were like. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Granada, I’m happy to help with the practical side too – we can go through how many hours of coverage make sense, when to set aside a moment for couple photos and how to weave the photography naturally into your schedule.

Weddings in Granada – old town, Albaicín and gardens with views of the Alhambra

Granada is a compact city where you can easily move between different settings in a single day. Around the Cathedral and Plaza Nueva you’ll find narrow streets, cafés and small squares – perfect for a short walk and a pre-wedding or couple session without long transfers.

On the opposite hill lies the Albaicín and Mirador de San Nicolás and viewpoints such as Mirador de San Cristóbal, where you get views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada hills. With the right light, you can create beautiful portraits just by wandering the streets, without complicated logistics.

Granada’s gardens and parks – including historic Carmen de los Mártires and other cármenes and villas with views towards the Alhambra – offer calmer settings for a ceremony and evening celebration.

Beyond Granada – countryside cortijos, vineyards and olive groves

Just a short drive outside the city you’ll find rural cortijos, wineries and venues surrounded by olive trees and rolling hills. These countryside locations are ideal if you’d like to turn your celebration into a full wedding weekend with your guests. We can look at specific venues together based on whether you imagine a city wedding, a garden celebration or a more rustic Andalusian countryside feel.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“We asked Mona to photograph our wedding and we don’t regret it for a second. The photos beautifully capture not only the important moments, but especially the subtle, spontaneous ones that really created the atmosphere. Monika’s approach was wonderful – kind, natural, everything felt relaxed and at the same time very professional. Communication was great from the very beginning all the way to the delivery of the photos. We felt very comfortable with her, which was really important for us in front of the camera as people with no experience.

We would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking not only for beautiful, natural photos, but also for a calm and genuinely human approach.
Thank you!”

I’m Monika – a wedding photographer in Granada, Andalusia and across Spain

Granada wedding photographer Monika

I’m Monika, and if you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Granada, anywhere in Andalusia or elsewhere in Spain, I’d love to be part of your day. I mostly work with couples who want photographs that feel close, calm and full of the atmosphere of the place – historic streets, evening light over the city, gardens and hills all around.

On a wedding day I usually stay more in the background. I pay attention to the small moments – the glances when you think no one is watching, spontaneous laughter, hugs with family, and those quiet pauses when you sit down together away from everything for a minute.

When needed, I’m practical and clear: I’ll help organise the group photos, suggest where to stand for the best light and recommend a short window for couple portraits that fits naturally into your schedule. I edit in a clean, timeless way, without heavy filters that will feel dated in a few years. I want the colours and atmosphere in your gallery to reflect what your day was really like.

How I photograph weddings in Granada

Granada-wedding-party-guests-running-laughing

Granada and its surroundings let you move between city streets, viewpoints and greenery all in one day. I usually combine a documentary approach with a shorter couple session when the light is soft – early in the morning or before sunset.

What your day might look like from my perspective:

  • Getting ready – I calmly photograph details, dresses, suits, the apartment or hotel interior and moments with your closest family and friends.

  • Ceremony – I capture arrivals, vows, the exchange of rings, your emotions and your guests’ reactions, congratulations and the little moments happening around you.

  • Group photos – I help with the group list and the organisation so that everything goes smoothly and no one has to stand in line for too long.

  • Couple session – we plan it around the light and your timeline; it can take place in the historic centre, in the venue’s garden, at a viewpoint with the Alhambra in the background or in a quieter park.

  • Evening celebration – I photograph the dancing, speeches, smaller interactions between your guests and the feel of the lights and music so that the whole evening comes through in your photos, not just a few “mandatory” shots.

When I select and edit your images, I look at the whole day as one complete story – from the first morning coffee to the moment the last guests head home.

How the process works

Many couples plan their wedding in Granada from afar – from another city or even another country. That’s why I follow a process that’s simple and predictable.

Initial message
Send me your wedding date, ceremony and reception location (Granada / surrounding area), an approximate guest count and a few lines about how you imagine your day. If you’re thinking about a pre-wedding / engagement session or an elopement, include that in your message as well.

Short online call
We’ll schedule a video call to go through the style of your wedding, the timeline, your priorities and any practical questions. We can look at specific venues and locations you’re considering and talk about what makes sense to photograph when.

Coverage proposal & quote
Based on your plans I’ll recommend how many hours of coverage make sense, when to set aside time for couple portraits and how to fit everything into your schedule. Then I’ll send you a clear quote so you know exactly what’s included.

Booking your date
If working together feels right, I’ll send over a contract and details for the booking retainer. Once it’s paid, your date is firmly reserved in my calendar.

Pre-wedding preparation
A few weeks before the wedding we’ll fine-tune the final timeline, addresses, important names and the list of groups for family and group photos. It’s also the perfect moment to mention any specific traditions or moments you definitely want captured.

Wedding day in Granada
You focus on each other and your guests – I’ll take care of the light, timing and flow of the photography. You don’t have to worry about technical details; I’m there to make sure nothing important is missed and that the photos don’t disturb the atmosphere of the day.

Gallery & delivery
Shortly after the wedding I’ll send you a small preview – a handful of key images as a first look. Your full edited gallery will then be delivered online, ready to view, share and print.
